He was sculpted out of monster clay, on a wooden board to keep it steady. This wass my first art piece out of monster clay, so there are definitely issues with it (e.g. the face), but otherwise i'm quite happy with it.
Once I had sculpted the piece, I covered it in a layer of brush on silicone that I then covered in plaster bandages to help keep the shape during casting. I did have to cut the model out of the silicone, but the join I made was relatively easy to fix afterwards.
Casting was done by securing a square of EVA foam in the mould in order to reduce resin required, and reduce the final weight. I then painted it with a base of black, followed by several layers of lighter grey dry brushing, and finally a brown oil wash to give it the aged look. The runes on the back were filled with a gold enamel paint.
I then dropped him into place on a shelf in the kitchen where he forever judges me.
