The mask of Corvo Attano was created as a display piece, but also one that could be worn next time I attend a masked ball









I sculpted the base by building up layers of sculpey and moulding it with my fingers and sculpting tools





I added on eyelets and other details that I made out of foam to give sharper more uniform edges





I created the cogs out of thick cardboard which i layered up to create the thicker pieces





I used Smooth-on brush on silicone to create a silicone jacket. I should have used more silicone, but there was just enough in the kit





The first slush cast resin pull turned out well requiring only a small amount of clean-up





First base coat of black gloss to give the final paint a metallic sheen. The pieces were assembled before painting the front





Gloss black coating over the front. I then used an enamel silver paint dabbed on with kitchen roll to give it a hammered metal effect





I backed it with hessian dipped in PVA glue to ensure it held its shape. The lenses were attached with the same copper wire used in the jaw

Now I had a mask, i needed some suitable attire to go with it! I made the majority of this costume by hand, only basics like the trousers and boots were bought. I worked in layers, building up from the most inside layer, creating patterns as i went. For this costume, I also created a rubber version of the mask, this meant my display piece can remain on display.









The first layer was the brown jerkin, I didn't put sleeves on this, as i find them the most difficult part to attach!





The basic shape of the jacket was then created using an old shirt as a guide for the top half, with the lines extended down for length





Extra pieces were then added on top, using scrap material as patterns. I also added some gold fabric tape round the edges





More layers added, I also sewed button holes in the lapels, with only one side being functional



Naturally, the costume would not be complete without accessories, mainly the signature blade that he wields. At this time, I didn't have a 3d printer or the funds to purchase a printed version, so I made a sword out of EVA foam. This has since been upgraded to a 3d printed version.







I patterned out the sword on several layers of foam for thickness, then used a rotary tool to carve in details





I sealed the entire thing with plasti-dip before painting, to avoid the paint being absorbed into the foam





I also created some bone charms out of clay. I oven fired one, and used this to create a silicone mold and then cast multiple bone charms
