This cosplay was done on a tight time restriction ready for SecretCon, so there aren't many progress shots, and I bought most of the patterns and models required rather than designed my own.
V Daggers 3D model was bought from Etsy
V doublet pattern was bought from Etsy
V mask model was bought from Cults
The first thing I did was the mask and daggers.
The mask and a single dagger were 3D printed. I sanded each, and smoothed with spray putty, sanding and spraying until I was happy with the result. The mask was then painted with an airbrush, the eyes backed with a black piece of mesh, and an elastic strap secured round the back for attachments.
The dagger was moulded in silicone, and cast with a semi-flexible resin with a steel wire through the middle for strength. I dusted the inside of the cast with graphite powder to help the resin wick into the thin edges of the blade. These were then painted with a chrome paint, which unfortunately dulled with a clear coat, and the handle was painted with black acrylic and accented with gold thread.
The doublet was cut out of the pattern, the diamond patterned fabric I used was very difficult to find, and I ended up using it inside out to get the better effect as the outside face was too shiny. This was sewn together with a hidden zip, some iron on interfacing between the layers, and some home made piping either side of the zip.
The gloves were basic leather renaissance gloves from amazon, the boots were repurposed from my dishonored cosplay, and I wore a black balaclava under the mask. The wig was bought from CosCraft and was straightened with hair straightners and trimmed. The belt buckle was a simple 3D design and printed, cast in the same resin as the daggers, and painted the same. The belt was made from 2 pieces of pleather cut into shape and sewn back to back, with some foam strips attached to hold the daggers in place.
The hat was the most difficult part, as it needed to be light enough for a full width brim to stand straight. I bought some milinery wire and some black felt, as the wool I used for the cloak was far too heavy for this. The wire helped the brim stick out straight, and helped the top part keep its shape. I measured the hat when I had the wig and mask on, as it needed to sit over both of these. The inside of the hat was coated in fabric stiffner to help keep the shape.
The final piece was the cloak, this was cut out of a large piece of black wool fabric, in hindsight, i should have cut it into smaller sections to make it easier to manage, as matching up the heavy wool exterior with the slippery and light lining fabric meant they didn't match, and I lost a little bit of length. The cloak had a wool strip down the inside seam just to prevent the lining fabric from showing as easily, and was attached with a small hook and eye attachment round the neck.
